Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to prepay for all RIMtech consulting services?

No. You can pay by purchase order and invoice. Many organizations require the services contract prior to starting the work. Once the contract is in place, we will allocate a number of consulting hours for your contract. From that point forward you can proceed to consume these hours by booking them directly on Bruce’s calendar on the website. Every time you book a session with Bruce on the calendar, the remaining session hours will automatically be decremented. We keep track of all the hours you consume against the contract.

Are any other pricing plans available for consulting services?

Yes. We offer blocks of four, 10, 20 and 40 hours for convenience only. Let us know how many hours you’d like to book, and will set up an arrangement for you, against which you can book online sessions with Bruce.

Do all consulting hours consist of online sessions with Bruce?

Can I pay for RIMtech consulting services or training without a credit card?

Yes. When you order the service or training course, use the “manual pay” payment option. You will then go into our website as having purchased the services or training course, but not yet paid. We will contact you to make payment arrangements. Typical payment arrangements would be a purchase order and invoice, services contract, or you can pay via electronic funds transfer.

What time zone does RIMtech operate in?

We are in the Eastern time zone. Our usual hours of operation are from 7 AM EST to 7 PM EST. For those in other time zones, we can make special arrangements to accommodate you.

Do you take payment in Canadian dollars?

Yes. All prices are in US dollars and will be converted to the equivalent Canadian currency. If you pay with a credit card based in Canada, the charge on your credit card will reflect the conversion to US dollars.

What online platform is used for services and training?

All RIMtech online training is conducted via the zoom platform, as well as our occasional webinars. For consulting services, we use the zoom platform unless the client has a preference such as Microsoft teams, WebEx, etc. whereupon we’re happy to use any platform.

What is the difference between private and public courses?

A private online course is actually an entire course delivered to a single organization. Such courses are often tailored to the particular organization. Up to 10 people may attend the class. It is private in that it is not open to the public, it is delivered to the employees of that organization only. The organization pays a single fee for the entire class and all attendees. A public course is open to anyone from the public and is scheduled in advance. Attendees pay a fee for each single attendee, regardless of the number of attendees.

What is the minimum number of attendees for a public course to proceed?

Four. If you go to the booking page specific to that course, it will show how many people are registered at any given time.

What happens if RIMtech cancels an online public event?

We only cancel an event if we fail to reach the minimum number of attendees (typically four), or if Bruce Miller is unable to attend due to illness. If, shortly before the course date we do not believe we will reach the minimum level, we will send you an email notification. We will either reschedule the event and give you an opportunity to rebook to the new date, or we will issue you a refund if you’re not able to attend.

Do I need to become a member of your website?

You only need to become a member if you wish to engage with RIMtech in some manner. You must be a member in order to purchase anything from RIMtech, to book consulting services on Bruce Miller’s calendar, or to post comments on Bruce’s blog. Being a member also means that you can communicate with other members. You can also keep track of booking services, i.e. how much time you have consumed, and how much is remaining against your contract, etc. There are also certain resources (useful documents and tools) that are made available on the RIMtech website to members only.

Is RIMtech or Bruce Miller affiliated with any software product?

No. Bruce Miller is not affiliated in any way with any software vendor, or services provider. Complete vendor neutrality is an essential element of RIMtech’s services. We take no payments of any form from any software vendor or services provider.

Can you create custom training courses?

Yes. We can create new training from scratch, or tailor existing training courses to your particular needs. We’d be happy to speak with you about your ideas.
