Bruce Miller
Founder and Principal

Bruce Miller, MBA, IGP is President of RIMtech, a vendor-neutral records technology consulting firm, and a world leading expert on electronic recordkeeping. Mr. Miller is an author, an educator, and is widely regarded as the inventor of modern electronic recordkeeping software. He pioneered the world’s first commercial electronic recordkeeping software and in 1997 he achieved the world’s first e-Records software certification against the US DoD 5015.2 standard. He has since presided over several successful 5015.2 certifications. He founded Tarian Software in 1999, where he developed the world’s first e-Records software engine for business software. That year he received ARMA Canada’s National Capital Region’s Ted Ferrier Award of Excellence for his contribution to the field of records management. Tarian was the first e-Records technology in the world to be certified against the revised 5015.2 June 2002 standard. In November 2002 Tarian was acquired by IBM, where Mr. Miller served for three years as IBM’s e-Records Strategy and Business Development Executive. Mr. Miller is the recipient of the prestigious 2003 Emmett Leahy Award, considered the highest international recognition given to professionals in the field of information and records management. Bruce’s ground-breaking book “Managing Records in Microsoft SharePoint” is an authoritative treatment of recordkeeping for SharePoint. He is working on his latest book entitled “Implementing Electronic Recordkeeping Software – a Methodology for Success”, Bruce holds a Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology, and a Masters in Business Administration from Queen’s University. He is a certified Information Governance Professional (IGP), and holds a certificate in Prince 2 Project Management.

 

Bruce consults on electronic recordkeeping issues such as product selection and evaluation, implementation readiness and planning, and strategy and project management, where he helps buyers plan for, acquire, and implement EDRMS solutions. He also consults with software vendors to help them attain product certification and develop recordkeeping capabilities.

Steve Saunders
Technology Systems Consultant

Steve is a professional software developer and entrepreneur with over 40 years of experience. He has worked with Bruce Miller of RIMtech for over 20 years, where he developed the worlds first electronic records management system ForeMost, which was used throughout North America by many blue-chip public and private sector organizations before being acquired by Documentum.

Steve and Bruce went on to found Tarian Software which developed another world-first – API-level records management technology. As Chief Technology Officer, he and his team developed the Tarian e-Records Engine, software that enabled technology companies to records-enable their products to quickly become DoD 5015.2 certified. Tarian was purchased by IBM, then a Tarian partner.

At IBM Steve ran the records management division as an executive in the Software Group. Steve managed an international development and testing team in Canada, the USA, India and China. The e-Records engine was ported from Microsoft to Java technology and was embedded in the IBM document manager and supported on multiple computing platforms including Linux, SuSe and AIX with multi-lingual support. He holds a degree in Computer Science from Carleton University.

Steve and Bruce together share the same records management knowledge, understanding and passion. Steve is pleased to join Bruce at RIMtech as a Technology Systems Consultant to ensure RIMtechs’ projects are successful from design through to implementation. Administration and Training Coordinator

Natalie Arruda looks after all the training and consulting services logistics, planning etc.  Natalie works closely with ARMA chapters to plan and coordinate on-site seminars throughout North America and Europe.
